19th of the Betonart Architecture Summer School Program Held in Edirne

The 19th BETONART Architecture Summer School Program organized by TÜRKÇİMENTO since 2002 and gathering students of architecture across whole Türkiye was held in Edirne on 24 July-1 August 2023. Following the interval caused by pandemics, the program was hosted this year by Trakya University and under the main sponsorship of Limak Cement and Çimentaş with the support of Chryso Türkiye (Saint Gobain).  The program was attended by 19 students of the department of architecture. BETONART Architecture Summer School ended with the activities for exhibiting the works created by students and hand over of participation certificates. The closing ceremony was attended by etkinliğin sponsorları olan Serdar Çelik, Limak Trakya Cement Factory Director and Mehmet Kızılbulut, Çimentaş Trakya Factory Manager, as sponsors, alongside with the teams working with the students through the entire process.   

Having founded Betonart Architecture Summer School 21 years ago, TÜRKÇİMENTO, reached over 500 young architects so far in such a strong field that holds great importance for the sector, as this program is completed. Apart from contributing to national economic growth, playing effective role in social development, and pioneering in introducing the architects of the future to the sector, the program provides the opportunity to get to know concrete material both in a theoretical and practical manner. The program is considered the construction site internship opportunity for the departments of architecture and interior architecture.  

We Stand With The Young That Make A Difference Through Their Energy And Ambition

Delivering a speech at the closing session of the Betonart Architecture Summer School TÜRKÇİMENTO CEO Volkan Bozay said: “We have brought together over 500 students in different cities in collaboration with universities and member factories.  The architects who previously participated in these programs as students now contribute to our country as the leading and renowned architects of Türkiye.  We are really proud of this. As TÜRKÇİMENTO, we will continue to look beyond the economic figures, the growth rates, contribute to the society, and stand with and support the young people who made a difference with their energies and dedication for working.   

In this year’s event, we have come up with 3 outstanding creative works with the participation of 19 students and moderator instructors. We believe that each and every one of these creative works will shed a light on the future of architecture and the students studying at the departments of architecture.  We have always attributed a particular significance to BETONART Architecture Summer School Program. It is of great value for us to see that our students learn about concrete and cement and merge all these products with a creative approach. What makes our event meaningful and useful is that they will be using everything they learned here after they graduate.”    

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Prof. Erhan Tabakoğlu, the Rector of Trakya University    made a direct reference to Edirne a location where Sinan the Architect created his master works and said: The architects of the future are being raised under the shadow of Sinan the Architect. We are really delighted to see in our university the reflection of a collaboration of quite diverse disciplines and sectors. Using the five senses properly, considering the agreeable parts of knowledge, and reflecting them into art bear great importance. We have come up with quite original works. In this event, we learned what we can do from our main material, the concrete. We made some inputs into this work and we are glad to see that.”
