"The 16th Global CemFuels Conference and Exhibition" took place in Istanbul on September 20-21

TÜRKÇİMENTO: THE USE OF ALTERNATIVE FUELS IS ESSENTIAL FOR LOW-CARBON PRODUCTION  

The "16th Global CemFuels Conference and Exhibition," organized with the support of TÜRKÇİMENTO and the international publication Global Cement Magazine, took place in Istanbul on September 20-21, 2023.  

Canan Derinöz Gencel, Environmental and Climate Change Manager at TÜRKÇİMENTO, spoke at the Global CemFuels Conference and provided up-to-date information about the Turkish cement industry to cement industry professionals from around the world who gathered at what is considered the world's largest private alternative fuels conference and exhibition.  

Canan Derinöz Gencel emphasized that the Turkish cement industry's readiness for the green transformation continues to grow day by day. She stated, "As producers, we consider this process as an opportunity and conduct our work accordingly." Gencel continued her remarks:  
 "The Turkish cement industry is actively working on adapting to the green transformation, including the use of alternative fuels and raw materials and energy efficiency. We are positioning ourselves among the leading sectors in terms of low-carbon production. We attach great importance to the use of alternative fuels in order to reduce emissions. According to our calculations, in 2022, we obtained 10.1% of our energy from alternative fuels by using 1.6 million tons of waste. Fuels containing biomass have a neutral effect on greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the supply and use of alternative fuels containing biomass are a priority for our industry. However, currently in our country, the supply of such alternative fuels is not at a level that can meet our industry's demand."  

TÜRKÇİMENTO RECEIVES GLOBAL CEMFUELS AWARD  

At the Global CemFuels Conference event, TÜRKÇİMENTO was honored with the " Outstanding Contribution to the Promotion of the use of Alternative Fuels Award." Canan Derinöz Gencel, on behalf of TÜRKÇİMENTO, accepted the award and said, "We are delighted to receive this award today thanks to the support we have provided to our members in increasing waste utilization. We would like to thank all industry representatives and our working groups for this award."
