TÜRKÇİMENTO is the Official Sponsor of Concrete 2023

8 Kasım 2023

In his address at CONCRETE 2023, the Ready-Mixed Concrete Exhibition and Congress, Fatih Yücelik, CEO of TÜRKÇİMENTO, revealed that the Turkish cement industry currently occupies the top position in Europe and holds the fifth position in the world as cement producer, and the second largest exporter of cement and clinkers globally.

Fatih Yücelik has emphasized the critical role of the sectors that hold strategic importance as to the urban transformation, earthquake preparedness, and development targets in Türkiye are the most vital stakeholders of the construction sector, and added: “It is predicted that the escalating urban transformation and ongoing infrastructure initiatives following the devastating earthquake crisis will result in an increased demand for cement and concrete. It is imperative to underline once again that the Turkish cement industry has a production capacity far exceeding the requirements for investments needed in Türkiye”.

Fatih Yücelik mentioned that TÜRKÇİMENTO, being the largest stakeholder in the concrete road sector, provides extensive technical on-site support to municipalities and special provincial administrations, significantly contributing to the development of concrete roads and continued:
“In today’s world where circular economy plays an increasingly important role, concrete roads offer substantial economic benefits with their long service lives, resulting in lifecycle cost savings of over 40%. Given that 50% of motorways and national highways, 10% of country roads, and 40% of local government road networks are concrete, this translates into an annual saving of $250 million on initial construction costs, $46 million on repair-maintenance costs, and an estimated $3 billion over a period of 10 years. The primary component of concrete roads is cement, which is fully produced using local and national resources. Therefore, the widespread implementation of concrete roads will help support the local and national economy while retaining financial resources within the country. It is imperative to instigate the adoption of resilient, financially viable, locally and domestically-sourced concrete roads with a low lifecycle cost as a feasible alternative, and to perceive it as a matter of national importance”.

At the conclusion of the event, sponsored by TÜRKÇİMENTO, plaques were presented.
